Problem Space / Opportunity Statement

“WILL CORONAVIRUS DESTROY AMERICA’S BELOVED SMALL BUSINESSES?”
New York Times

New York’s small businesses need help in communicating their value to the neighborhoods they serve. We wanted to create an app that could improve those interactions for both the business user and the customer.

Key Insights

While it was easy to assume that people do want to support their local stores, it’s more complicated than that. The customer needs something in return. We need to improve the experience of supporting local businesses for New Yorkers, within their own neighborhoods.

Our job is to remind people that Amazon’s next day delivery promise will never be as good as our neighborhood’s next door reality and in turn show them that these bushinesses can offer even more in return.

It’s a two-way street. Our Next Steps

The Business Owners are also our users and so we turn our attention back to them. Through preliminary owner interviews we have positive data that the store owners have a need for this app. By creating a robust business user profile we will be able to effectively introduce the business people to the communities they service.
